Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our safeguard against the wickedness
and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host,
by the Divine Power of God,
thrust into hell Satan
and all the evil spirits
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen
Lent is a 40 day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. It's a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection at Easter. During Lent, we seek the Lord in prayer by reading Sacred Scripture; we serve by giving alms; and we practice self-control through fasting. We are called not only to abstain from luxuries during Lent, but to a true inner conversion of heart as we seek to follow Christ's will more faithfully. We recall the waters of baptism in which we were also baptized into Christ's death, died to sin and evil, and began new life in Christ. (USCCB)
Ash Wednesday - marks the beginning of Lent, observed by receiving a cross of ashes on the forehead at Mass
Palm Sunday - focuses on Jesus' days of suffering and death.
Holy Thursday - Love one another as Jesus spoke during the Passover meal as he washed his disciples' feet and instituted the Holy Eucharist.
Good Friday - marks the events of Jesus' trial, crucifixion, death and burial.
Easter Vigil - celebrated on Holy Saturday evening after sundown.
Easter - It celebrates Jesus's victory of sin and death and salvation for mankind. It is God's greatest act of love to redeem mankind.
